Liberalism and Christianity

March 2 - 3, 2018
Harvard Law School
Boston, Massachusetts

Register for the Christianity and Liberalism conference featuring Prof. Emerit. Remi Brague (the Sorbonne), Fr. Dominic Legge, OP (the Pontifical Faculty of the Immaculate Conception), Prof. Helen Alvar? (Antonin Scalia Law School, George Mason University), Prof. Candace Vogler (University of Chicago), and others.

At its origin liberalism promised that by separating the Church's care for souls from the aims of civil government, both would be strengthened. Early articulations appealed to a Christian view of human freedom and excellence as foundational to its aims, but as the quest for material success and progress have come to take precedence, liberalism's former foundations have been called into question. Have Christianity and liberalism grown firmly apart? Or is reconciliation possible? Join us as we examine the origins and development of the relationship between Christianity and liberalism and look toward the future.

Sponsored by the Harvard Catholic Graduate Student Chaplaincy and the Thomistic Institute.
